The Sound of Thunderstorms
A & E -- Struck By Lightning -- VHS

Every year around the globe over 1000 people are estimated to die from lightning

...and lightning injuries and deaths are under reported. The reason that lightning does not get into the headlines that other natural disasters do, is that lightning most often strikes individuals and not large groups. During a lightning storm the National Weather Service advises that we do not use the phones in our homes, because of the possibility that lightning may be conducted through our phone lines and strike us. The long term affects of lightening related injuries often take survivors a lifetime to recover from. Lightening strikes the earth millions of times every day.

Some of the pages we link to are written by those who have survived being struck by lightning ... provide advice about lightning safety ... conduct lightning research ... and provide lightning educational information for kids and adults.
