the year 2000 Arkansas had an estimated population of 2,673,400
which ranked the state 33rd in population. For that year the State of
Arkansas had a total Crime Index of 4,115.3 reported incidents per
100,000 people. This ranked the state as having the 23rd highest total
Crime Index. For Violent Crime Arkansas had a reported incident rate of
445.3 per 100,000 people. This ranked the state as having the 22nd
highest occurrence for Violent Crime among the states. For crimes
against Property, the state had a reported incident rate of 3,670.0 per
100,000 people, which ranked as the state 24th highest. Also in the
year 2000 Arkansas had 6.3 Murders per 100,000 people, ranking the
state as having the 14th highest rate for Murder. Arkansas’s
31.7
reported Forced Rapes per 100,000 people, ranked the state 27th
highest. For Robbery, per 100,000 people, Arkansas’s rate was
74.8
which ranked the state 37th highest for Robbery. The state also had
332.4 Aggravated Assaults for every 100,000 people, which indexed the
state as having the 16th highest position for this crime among the
states. For every 100,000 people there were 802.1 Burglaries, which
ranks Arkansas as having the 16th highest standing among the states.
Larceny - Theft were reported 2,608.7 times per hundred thousand people
in Arkansas which standing is the 25th highest among the states.
Vehicle Theft occurred 259.3 times per 100,000 people, which fixed the
state as having the 37th highest for vehicle
