Washington had a total Crime Index of 5,105.6 reported incidents per
100,000 people. This ranked the state as having the 7th highest total
Crime Index. For Violent Crime Washington had a reported incident rate
of 369.7 per 100,000 people. This ranked the state as having the 26th
highest occurrence for Violent Crime among the states. For crimes
against Property, the state had a reported incident rate of 4,736.0 per
100,000 people, which ranked as the state 6th highest. Also in the year
2000 Washington had 3.3 Murders per 100,000 people, ranking the state
as having the 31st highest rate for Murder. Washington’s 46.4
reported Forced Rapes per 100,000 people, ranked the state 5th highest.
For Robbery, per 100,000 people, Washington’s rate was 98.6
which ranked the state as having the 25th highest for Robbery. The
state also had 221.3 Aggravated Assaults for every 100,000 people,
which indexed the state as having the 29th highest position for this
crime among the states. For every 100,000 people there were 907.3
Burglaries, which ranks Washington as having the 9th highest standing
among the states. Larceny - Theft were reported 3,234.6 times per
hundred thousand people in Washington which standing is the 6th highest
among the states. Vehicle Theft occurred 594.1 times per 100,000
people, which fixed the state as having the 3rd highest for vehicle theft
among the states.
