Crime Index. For Violent Crime Connecticut had a reported incident rate
of 324.7 per 100,000 people. This ranked the state as having the 33rd
highest occurrence for Violent Crime among the states. For crimes
against Property, the state had a reported incident rate of 2,908.0 per
100,000 people, which ranked as the state 38th highest. Also in the
year 2000 Connecticut had 2.9 Murders per 100,000 people, ranking the
state as having the 37th highest rate for Murder.
Connecticut’s 19.9 reported Forced Rapes per 100,000 people,
ranked the state 47th highest. For Robbery, per 100,000 people,
Connecticut’s rate was 112.5 which ranked the state as having
the 23rd highest for Robbery. The state also had 189.4 Aggravated
Assaults for every 100,000 people, which indexed the state as having
the 36th highest position for this crime among the states. For every
100,000 people there were 512.0 Burglaries, which ranks Connecticut as
having the 40th highest standing among the states. Larceny - Theft were
reported 2,011.4 times per hundred thousand people in Connecticut which
standing is the 39th highest among the states. Vehicle Theft occurred
384.6 times per 100,000 people, which fixed the state as having the
22nd highest for vehicle theft among the states.
